Swasraya Bharath Foundation (SBF)

Swasraya Bharath Foundation (SBF) is an initiative of the kerala chapter of VibhaVaniIndia (a National consortium of nation building organizations), by bringing together like minded with nationalistic view for developing self-reliance and prosperity of the common man by providing professional services to meet the societal challenges and deliver sustainable solutions.

Background:

Kerala state, having high track record of history in the education and health sector is facing several challenges in the present scenario and the impact of socio-economic scenario warrants several steps to address the issue in hand as well as the future. Recently several positive developments in the policy and initiatives of the government, industrial and economic growth in the several sectors has provided ample scope for converting challenges into opportunity and taking the fruits of development to the last mile.However, we have to admit that the economic growth has to be coupled with inclusive and sustainable development. In order to address the gaps identified in taking the benefits of economic development to the common man, focus on the professional empowerment and equipping the society towards knowledge economy especially among the socio-economically backward sections is the need of the hour.

Areas of intervention

Training and Development

To provide sector specific skill training for personal development of individuals and Entrepreneurs with support, collaboration and association of various institutions and professionals. The placement cell of SBF explore possibilities for job placement to candidates who successfully complete their training program.

As there is good opportunity in skilling and placement, setting up a Centre for skills, entrepreneurship and leadership development (CSD ) in Chalakudy Thrissur along with a multipurpose skill training center under National Skill Development Corporation(NSDC) by augmenting the support of likeminded organizations is envisaged as the initial intervention that can have a long term impact. We propose to conduct 24 training programs in the next 12 months and the total trainees are 500 per annum on approximately six training areas/Programs.

• Capacity building program for project submission &implementation, hand holding support to social workers, local body representatives, entrepreneurs, training on Govt. Schemes, CSR are also planned.
• Women and youth groups /clusters shall be provided training in cost effective innovative technology for setting up micro and small enterprises in the social sector and generate livelihood and economic development.
• Develop professional Counselling courses to cater to the need of social organisations and workers engaged in social engineering , household and youth development , sddress the mental health of senior citizens and general public.
• Offering consultancy and mentorship is also another area which SBF has prioritized for identifying and implementing the projects that help achieve it’s vision and mission.
• Initially, we are planning to focus on Training and Development, Intervention in Agriculture Sector and MSME, Project Consultation and Implementation, Community Development and other Digital Initiative for social sector.

Intervention in Agriculture Sector and MSME

Changing scenario in the agriculture sector gives scope for more emphasis on Agri Business by conductngtraining and technology development for the farmers and youths and introduce to various methods like Innovative Technology intervention, Product Innovation, value addition, Agribusiness incubators, Common Facility Centres, market linkage and infrastructure development, thus stirve to double farmers income. Ample training& consultancy support is required for the newly formed FPOs and SHG s. We shall strive to impart skill training for those who are looking for setting up MSME units or under KVIC through various Govt Schemes which are intended for generating self-employment, livelihood and economic growth of socio-economic growth.

Project Consultation and Implementation

Extending business consultancy support and professional guidance to individuals, startup entrepreneurs and institutions by imparting knowledge and skill for them and their employees, especially for aspiring and upcoming entrepreneursand help in enterprise strategy formulations. We shall provide mentorship support also to social enterprises by bringing together experts on various sectors.

Community Development through projects linked with government schemes and CSR

We feel that lack of awareness and knowledge regarding various social schemes launched by the government and also lack of professional outlook among social and political workers are major hindrance for speedy and inclusive social and financial development of our country. We therefore proposes to provide proper specialized training programs for these groups.

Digital Initiatives

Online store: In the fast moving world, we need to keep in tune with. Social media marketing and Online sales are essential components of business today. In tune with the above, we are in the process of setting up an online store-Swasraya.net, to promote and encourage agri products, ecofriendly products from social enterprises by collaborating with likeminded nation building organisations and enterprises or social startups .who are connected with the grassroots and strive for achieving self-reliance and rural prosperity.

Learning Management system: An online learning management system (LMS) will be launched shortly to promote knowledge sharing and capacity building by conducting short term online courses for organizational development, gaining knowledge on various topics related to societal development. Class room as well as practical training shall be conducted as a follow through to online classes.

Community living and wellness projects

In the modern world there is a scenario of senior citizens becoming alone in the household due to their children seeks jobs and settling far away, thus creating a vacuum and loneliness. This adversely effects the life of the parents at physical, mental and spiritual level. This will also disengage them from giving substantial contribution to the society from their knowledge and experience gained in the life time. Inorder to fill the gap SBF is envisaging to develop community living projects that cater to the need of both the senior citizens as well as the new generations to better their life according to the ancient wisdom and principles of Ayurveda and yoga inthe practical life and ensure the wellness of the society.
